Welcome to the town archive

The Prenzlau town archive is responsible for the evaluation, acceptance, recording, and storage of written material suitable for archiving (files, documents, maps, plans, drawings, films, pictures), either originating in the administrative activity of the town of Prenzlau or referring to administrative procedures from the town of Prenzlau.

The town archive also collects and preserves written evidence relevant to the town’s history, supplementing official records. This includes documents of companies and associations, bequests and private documents, newspapers, picture and sound carriers, maps, plans, and posters.
In short: the town archive serves as the town’s memory

The town archive is a public archive. It’s open to anyone for:

  • scientific, local history, family history, or personal research
  • official or journalistic research
  • and for teaching purposes

The current hygiene rules apply to any visit.
